Popular Mainland China Shopping Malls: Dongmending (Shenzhen Luohu)
🏙️ Shenzhen Dongmending
📖 Mall Introduction and History
Dongmending is located in Luohu District, Shenzhen, and is one of the most historic commercial districts in Shenzhen.
- Its history can be traced back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties , when Dongmen was the center of Shenzhen's market and gradually developed into a prosperous commercial district.
- After the reform and opening up, Dongmen became Shenzhen’s earliest “shopping paradise” and in the 1990s it was a must-visit destination for Hong Kong people heading north.
- Today, Dongmending retains the traditional "pedestrian street" atmosphere while introducing modern shopping malls, brand stores and restaurants, forming a "fusion of old and new" feature.
