Seville: Latest 2025 Travel Guide
🌸 Seville Travel Guide
Known as the "Soul of Andalusia," Seville boasts a unique blend of Islamic influences and traditional Spanish culture. It boasts World Heritage architecture, vibrant flamenco performances, and charming alleyways and plazas.
📍 Must-visit tourist hotspots
1. Seville Cathedral and the Giralda
- Features : The world's largest Gothic cathedral, where Christopher Columbus's coffin is placed.
- Giralda Tower : Originally a minaret of a mosque, you can overlook the entire city from the top.
- Editor's Tip : It is recommended to book tickets in advance, as the tower is most beautiful at sunset.
2. Royal Palace of Seville
- Features : The palace combines Moorish style with Spanish royal elements, and the gardens are extremely beautiful.
- Editor’s Tip : The TV series “Game of Thrones” was filmed here, and the “Water Gardens of Dorne” is here!
3. Plaza de España
- Features : Built for the 1929 World Expo, the semi-circular building with colorful tiles is magnificent and charming.
- Editor’s tip : Be sure to walk across the bridge and take photos of the reflection – it’s super dreamy.
4. Barrio de Santa Cruz
- Features : The former Jewish quarter, with narrow alleys, white-walled courtyards and many orange trees.
- Editor’s Tip : Perfect for getting lost and soaking up the city’s romance.
5. Metropol Parasol
- Features : Modern wooden building known as "Las Setas" (Mushroom Umbrellas).
- Editor’s tip : Go up to the observation deck at night to see the night view, which is particularly romantic.
6. Torre del Oro (Golden Tower)
- Special feature : 12th-century defensive tower that once guarded the Guadalquivir River.
- Editor’s tip : A stroll along the river is also very pleasant, and the scenery is most beautiful in the evening.
7. Flamenco Show
- Features : Seville is the birthplace of flamenco, and the dance is full of power and passion.
- Editor’s tip : For the most authentic experience, you can choose to eat tapas while watching a show at the Tablao small theater.
🍴 Must-try food in Seville
Andalusian food is full of Mediterranean flavors, and my favorites are:
-
Cold Soup (Gazpacho/Salmorejo)
- Gazpacho: A tomato-based cold soup that is especially refreshing in the summer.
- Salmorejo: A thicker version from Cordoba, often topped with eggs and ham.
-
Fried Fish (Pescaito Frito)
- A favorite street food of Sevillians, fresh fried fish is crispy and delicious.
-
Iberian ham
- Andalusia is a major producer of ham, which pairs perfectly with sherry.
-
Tapas (snack platter)
- Seville is one of the most famous tapas cities in Spain! Common dishes include croquettes, roasted bell peppers, and pickled olives.
-
Oxtail Stew (Rabo de Toro)
- A traditional Andalusian dish, this rich sauce goes great with rice or bread.
-
Orange Dessert
- The city is full of orange trees, and many local desserts and jams have an orange scent.
🚇 Seville Transportation Guide
Seville is relatively compact, and most attractions in the city center can be reached on foot. However, there are several main modes of transportation:
1. Walking
- Highly recommended! Major attractions like the Royal Palace, Cathedral, and Plaza de España are all within easy reach.
2. Bus (TUSSAM)
- The city has a dense bus network and a one-way ticket costs about €1.40.
- It is more cost-effective to buy a transportation card (Bonobus).
3. Tram (MetroCentro)
- A short light rail line connecting the main attractions in the city center (such as Piazza San Petero to the Royal Palace).
4. Metro de Sevilla
- There is currently only one subway line, which is mainly used in the suburbs and is generally rarely used by tourists.
5. Bicycle
- The city has a Sevici public bicycle system , which makes it very pleasant to ride a bicycle along the river or in the square.
6. Airport Transportation
- Bus line EA : from Seville Airport to the city centre (approximately 30-35 minutes).
- Taxi : Fixed fare system, more convenient but more expensive.
🎯 Editor's Summary
Seville is a city where passion and romance intertwine. I think the best way to experience it is:
- During the day, visit the Royal Palace, Cathedral, and Plaza de España to experience history and art.
- In the evening, walk into the alleys of the Santa Cruz district and watch the sunset under the orange trees.
- End the day with a Flamenco show and a glass of sherry.
📌 Editor's Note:
- Summers are incredibly hot! Daytime temperatures in July and August often exceed 40°C (104°F). It's recommended to go out in the mornings and evenings, and take a nap at noon.
- The restaurant opens late for dinner and starts to get busy after 9pm.
- Tickets for popular attractions (Royal Palace, Cathedral) must be booked online to avoid long queues.
